Why Kocev Services

The tradie people actually recommend

Five stars from 45 reviews isn't luck. It's turning up when we said we would, quoting before we start, and finishing the job on budget.

Fixed price, quoted upfront

You get the price in writing before any work begins. No surprises on the final invoice.

Certified and compliant

EWRB registration #119850, practising licence EE 069268, Site Safe registered. Prescribed electrical work is tested and comes with a Certificate of Compliance.

Engineer, not just an installer

A Bachelor's in Industrial Power Engineering and Automation (NZQA Level 7) and Engineers New Zealand ET Practical recognition, on top of 20+ years on the tools.

Controls and light commercial too

A strong BMS and building-controls background, so small commercial heat pump and controls work is a fit, something most residential sparkies can't take on.

Sized properly

We size the unit to the room: volume, insulation, glazing and aspect. The wrong size costs you every month it runs.

Fast turnaround

Enquiries answered the same day, usually within a couple of hours. In this trade whoever calls back first usually gets the job, so we call back first.

Owner on the tools

Dimce does the work himself. You deal with the person responsible for the result.

Warranty registered for you

Your unit is installed to the manufacturer's spec and the warranty is registered on completion, so it's valid when you need it.

Since 2008

Nearly two decades of Auckland homes, renovations and new builds, and 20+ years in the trade behind that.

One trade, many jobs

Heat pump, switchboard, cameras and the new oven, booked and done in one visit where possible.

FAQ

Common questions

Do you charge for quotes?

No. Quotes are free and fixed in writing before any work starts, so the number you agree to is the number on the invoice.

Are you a registered electrician?

Yes: Electrical Workers Registration Board registration #119850, practising licence EE 069268, Site Safe registered, with verified ID, address and NZBN. Behind that: a Bachelor's in Industrial Power Engineering and Automation (NZQA Level 7), Engineers New Zealand ET Practical recognition, and 20+ years across electrical, HVAC and building controls. All prescribed electrical work is tested and certified, and you get a Certificate of Compliance for your records.

What size heat pump do I actually need?

It depends on the volume of the room, its insulation, how much glazing it has and which way it faces, not just floor area. Undersized units run flat out and cost more to run; oversized ones short-cycle and leave the room clammy. We measure the space and size the unit to it before we quote.

How much does a heat pump cost installed?

It depends on the capacity the room needs, the brand, how long the pipe run is and how easy the wall and switchboard are to get to. We measure the job first and then put a fixed number in writing, free, rather than quote a range that changes once we arrive. The heat pump page sets out exactly what a quote covers.

How long does an installation take?

A standard back-to-back high wall install is usually a single day. Longer pipe runs, multi-room systems and ducted installs take longer. We tell you the expected timeframe when we quote, not on the day.

Can I get a Warmer Kiwi Homes grant towards a heat pump?

Possibly. The EECA Warmer Kiwi Homes programme covers most of the cost of an approved heat pump in your main living area, up to the cap EECA sets, for owner-occupiers of homes built before 2008 who hold a Community Services Card or SuperGold Combo Card, or live in a lower-income area. Grant installs have to be done by an EECA-approved provider, so check your eligibility with EECA on 0800 749 782 first.

Do you service heat pumps you didn't install?

Yes. Servicing, repairs, fault finding and preventive maintenance on existing systems of any brand are a big part of what we do.

How often should a heat pump be serviced?

Once a year for most homes. Regular servicing keeps running costs down, keeps the air clean and helps the unit last longer, and most manufacturers require it to keep the warranty valid.

Can you install an EV charger at home?

Yes: EV charger installation, including any switchboard or supply work needed to support it, tested and certified on completion.

Which areas do you cover?

Auckland-wide. We're based in Northcross on the North Shore and work right across the city. The suburb lists are further up the page. If you're outside them, call and ask; we travel for the right job.

Do you take on small one-off jobs?

Our focus is installation and upgrade work: heat pumps, switchboards, and cabin and minor dwelling fitouts. Small one-off callouts and general fault-finding we take on for existing customers, and we'd rather tell you that up front than waste your time. If it's a small job, call and we'll say yes or point you to someone who can help.

Is it just one person, or a team?

One person. Dimce Kocev does the work himself, which is why the quote, the install and the person you call afterwards are all the same tradesman. It also means we don't take on large commercial fitouts or anything needing more than one person on site.
